Help Your Club

Swadlincote Dolphins - Background.png
We need your help! NOW!

We have a shortage of technical officials and team managers. Without technical officials open meets can not run. Without Team Managers your athletes will not be able to compete as the required supervision ratios can not be met. Without committee members the club can not function. Please consider training and volunteering for the roles below.

Need a little extra encouragement? Read Sharon's "My life as a Swim Mom and J1" here.

How to become a Technical Official

Without technical officials open meets can not run. There is an expectation that clubs attending open meets also provide some officials. If you do qualify as an official you can enjoy the perks of the role which include:

  • Seeing your athlete compete without having to pay to spectate

  • Refreshments throughout the day, often including breakfast and lunch

  • Some pay travel expenses

  • Satisfaction of supporting your club and their events

  • The opportunity to take the skills as far as you want, some of the refs on the circuit have been to Olympics!

Swim England's Swimming Technical Officials - Judge 1 Theory course is an eLearning course which you can complete as soon as you book on it. Swim England estimate it will take between 6 to 8 hours to complete and has a multiple choice assessment at the end. Following completion of the theory course you will be sent a log book to record your practical training.

The course currently cost £20 which can be claimed back from the club upon completion. â€‹â€‹

How to become a Poolside Helper

If you want to take a more practical role in the club and understand the drills and exercises your athlete does in training, why not become a poolside helper.

If you are interested in becoming a poolside helper please speak to any of the coaching team who will be able to provide information on what it entails and the where it can lead.
